Review: Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

Hello lovelies.
If you've seen any of my beauty related posts you'll know this is my Holy Grail foundation, I don't use anything else. In saying that I'll try to provide an un-biased review.

Packaging:
I really love this packaging! It's practical, made of glass so it's not going to accidentally squeeze everywhere in your bag. The colouring's cute, I love having different colours amongst my products. Super easy pump application and it seems to hold a lot, or at least it lasts me a while. When you're running low you can't cut it open for more, but you can still open the top and get a lot extra out. Also it stands up, which is a plus depending on how you store your makeup.

A half pump
Unblended
Mostly Blended

Consistency & Coverage:
The consistency I find lovely, it's not gooey or sticky. It's really smooth without being watery. It feels super light on my skin. I find I can use barely any and get a really light, natural finish, but it's fine for when I want a heavier look as well. The coverage it gives is good and really evens out my skin tone. The finish is quite dewy, not to the point of looking sweaty, and would be good for dryer skin. I would say I have combination skin, I don't think this foundation would be that great for oily skin types.

Foundation only (and primer)
End of the day

Does it do its job?
"Our first foundation that visibly reawakens and illuminates skin with a radiant glow and flawless, natural-looking finish. Instant anti-fatigue effect. With peptides and a Vitamin Moisturising Complex."

I think it really does provide a 'radiant glow' as it suggests. It may be because I look awful first thing in the morning but after applying I feel I look much more awake. So ticks for living up to its name. It also looks and feel quite moisturising. It provides good coverage and feels good so I would definitely say it does its job well. As a bonus it smells nice, like a sweet smelling sunscreen. I'm going to give it a 9/10 just incase I find one better.

I hope this review is somewhat helpful if you haven't tried the foundation. I think I reviewed all the important bits. If you want to know anything else leave me a question.

Thanks for reading!

Top Ten Tag

I was tagged by the lovely Patricia to do this tag so thankyou very much! Here's my top ten list of beauty products right now.

1. Foundation
I am still completely in love with the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation, I haven't used anything else since I got it and I've repurchased already so I probably won't be trying anything new soon.

2. Powder
Right now I'm using the Revlon Nearly Naked powder but it's almost out. It's really flawless and great for setting foundation and concealer.

3. Concealer
Recently, I started using the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer and it's so perfect for my under eye area as it's the perfect colour for correcting purple and bluish tones. It's also a great consistency and easy to use packaging.

4. Blush
I'm not a huge blush person, I'm always worried I'll end up with the clown look. Currently I use the Rimmel Lasting Finish soft colour blush in 170 Genuine Plum. It's not plum coloured as the name suggests but I do like it compared to brighter blushers.

5. Bronzer
I'm obsessed with Mac's Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark. It's got such a pretty glow and looks so natural. In summer I'll probably use it all over my face to create that sun-kissed look.

6. Highlighter
I use the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle but I've stopped using it as often as I used to. I only really use it on a night out as i find it to shimmery for everyday use. But it's still so so beautiful.

7. Mascara
My absolute favourite is Le Volume De Chanel mascara, even though I try to limit it's use, because it's just too special to me. I raved about this in my first favourites post too. You'll never hear me say a bad thing about this mascara.

8. Eye Shadow
I cannot decide on just one. I love using a mix of any palettes I have so I can get the exact look I want. My favourite palette would be the Mac quad from my last favourites post. But my favourite single shadow colour is Strange from the Naked 3 Palette. I use it with nearly every look.

9. Brows
I don't use any brow pencils or anything on my eyebrows. They're pretty full already so I just take my Nude angled brush and a dark eyeshadow to fill them in a bit.

10. Lip Product
This is the toughest category. My favourite lipstick I own is Mac's Impassioned in the Amplified Creme finish. It's not an everyday look but definitely the one I wouldn't live without.

Hope you enjoyed, I tag:

Beauty Haul

I haven't posted any real beauty posts lately so apologies there, but heres a little haul of the beauty bits I've picked up recently.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Liquid Foundation 103 'True Ivory'
Yes, it's the same foundation I've been using all year, and no, I'm probably not going to change anytime soon. I really love this foundation, it's good quality and not expensive.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder 003 'Peach Glow'
I used this powder a few years ago and forgot about it, but I've decided to try it again and I know a lot of people like it.

L'Oreal Color Riche Eye Colour Pencil 06 'Delicate Beige'
I hadn't really considered anything other than eyeshadow before, but I saw this and loved the metallic look. Also they were on special.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss No. 20 'Rossetto'
My first Kate Moss lipstick. I went for something bright because I'm so often buying simple, everyday colours. It has quite a purple tone to it in real life, more than this picture shows.

Mac Powder Blush Satin 'Fleur Power'
I finally picked up this blush that I've had my eye on for so long. Mac can sell me on anything, I'm obsessed with all the packaging of all their pots and this colour is just what I wanted.

Mac Brush 116
On my wish-list post I had mentioned wanting the 129 brush, but after careful consideration in the Mac store I decided this was the brush for me. I managed to leave Mac relatively unscathed with these to items.

I love having fresh, new products to hold, but I also have the urge to try my new things straight away, so I never have untouched products for long.
Let me know any new beauty products you've purchased recently, your thoughts on these ones, or if you want to see a review of any of these products.

July Favourites

Another month, another bunch of things that have treated me well. These have been my favourites over the month of July.

MAC 'Hold My Gaze' quad
-=White Rabbit, Hold My Gaze, Dame's Desire, and Deep Secret=-
This Mac palette is the palette of my dreams. I'd been eyeing it for ages before I bought it and I was so happy with my purchase. This is the perfect palette for a night out, my absolute favourite has been Dame's Desire.

Revlon Colourburst lip butter
-=050 Berry Smoothie, 025 Peach Parfait, 080 Strawberry Shortcake=-
I love the texture of these lip butters, they're not as heavy as a lipstick and they're full of moisture too. I'm not super adventurous with lip colours so I picked some easy to wear colours of these and they're great for when I want to add just a touch of colour to my look. I've mainly been using Strawberry Shortcake. They're also easy to reapply throughout the day.

Revlon Nearly Naked powder
-=020 Light Pale=-
While I was in Thailand it was constant 30° weather so normally I would be as shiny as a shiny fore-headed person could get. Thankfully I packed this powder with me as it saved my life. I'm sure many powders do a great job at reducing shine, this one just happened to be the one with me at the time. Either way, this is a favourite of mine everyday not just in the hot weather and sets my makeup beautifully.

Sportsgirl 'Seafoam,' unknown white nail polish, Butter London 'Keks'
I wanted to get my nails back on track this month because I hate when mine are short, and I find the best way to help them grow is to paint them. I paint my nails every 2-5 days because I can't stand when they're chipped and these are the three I've been using most this month.

Batiste Dry Shampoo 'Cherry'
I'd never really used dry shampoo before trying the Batiste one, I'd just used talcum/baby powder. But since I started using this I find it incredible. Powder's fine for at night but it leaves residue so I don't like using it in the morning. The Batiste dry shampoo leaves no powder residue and it creates volume when my hair is looking limp. Also I picked the cherry bottle because the smell is amazing.

Finders Keepers 'Seen It All' maxi skirt
I loved this skirt the moment I tried it on, I love how it hugs my legs and I can vary which way it sits. It was difficult to justify after looking at the price tag but I knew it would be perfect for my holiday. I wore it nearly everyday and I know I'll love it going into summer. It can be so easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Gabriella [Velvet ghost]
Recently I have not been able to stop watching Gabby's videos. Any of you who watch her will know why. She's so genuine and funny and I always feel like I'm really getting the real thing when I'm watching her. She posts heaps of hauls, which I love, including a lot of home-ware stuff.

I've got three music favourites to share this month. I adored Ella Henderson on the X Factor UK and her new song Ghost has just cemented my love for her. I'm a sucker for catchy songs and this one is so good. Currently I also adore Australian artist Illy, his newest tune Tightrope I've had on replay. Again it's just so catchy. My last music favourite will be no surprise to anyone who's been online this month. An Australian again: Troye Sivan. I can't stop listening to Happy Little Pill, as soon as I heard it I preordered his EP. It was not at all what I was expecting, it's sooo much better. I so hope he gets all the recognition he deserves for his talent.

My last (but not least) favourite has been all you guys reading this right now. In just under two months I've had over a thousand people taking a peek at my blog and it means the world to me to know that there's people who actually notice what I've been doing. A special thanks to everyone who's ever commented, I read them all and I love hearing feedback and discovering new blogs.

Please let me know your favourite things and recommendations in the comments :)

My Travels

I thought instead of making a long post simply stating all the things I did in Thailand I'd put my holiday into a vlog style video. I couldn't fit everything in as it's hard to condense two weeks into a short video but I hope this shows a bit of how wonderful my experience in Thailand was. P.S. I apologise for my shoddy videoing and editing skills, it's my first attempt :)

Review: Benefit Skincare

The lack of posts recently can be attributed to my being on holiday (there may be a holiday post in the future) so my attention has been elsewhere, but I've found some time for a little post.

I was browsing the Benefit counter recently and I wanted to try something from their skincare range but I couldn't decide. I spotted their b.right! Radiant Skincare 6 piece intro kit. It was $24 (AUD) and includes their face wash, face polish, toning lotion, facial emulsion, moisturiser and eye cream!

Foamingly Clean Facial Wash
This is completely used up as it's a tiny tube and I used it everyday, sometimes twice. Immediate results were really nice, my skin felt clean and smooth and didn't feel dry at all. I had blackheads coming up almost immediately which I find is a good sign in a cleanser. I'd definitely need a larger tube to see the long term results but this seems to work well and smells nice.

Refined Finish Facial Polish
This bottle recommends it to be used 1-2 times a weeks which I have been doing. It's quite a hard exfoliant and would definitely not use it more often than recommended and if you're skin is super sensitive to rough exfoliants I wouldn't suggest this one for you. The results, though, are so good. My skin feels so soft after every use and there's no trace of dry skin or roughness.

Triple Performing Facial Emulsion & Moisture Prep Toning Lotion
These two products, whilst they feel lovely on the skin, I don't feel are a wholly necessary part of a skincare routine. I have fairly regular skin so someone with dry skin would probably find these more helpful. The face emulsion for daytime wear contains SPF 15+ and makeup applies and stays easily enough. The night-time moisture prep leaves a really nice feeling on my skin. Both products dry quickly, ready for moisturiser and can easily be used on their own as they still leave the skin feeling moisturised and soft.

Total Moisture Facial Cream & It's Potent! Eye Cream
This face cream is really good as it's super smooth and smells quite good. I do end up looking really shiny after application but it tends so soak in after a while. It's perfect for before bed but also is fine to apply before makeup, as long as you let it settle first. The eye-cream is lovely although I haven't seen any noticeable difference in my under-eye area. Both of these products come in a tiny container and will definitely outlast all the other products as the coverage is excellent.

Overall, this is a perfect package for anyone who wants to try Benefit's skincare range as, apart from the face wash, it really allows you to see all the results of their products. It's also encouraged me to buy the larger products of a few, especially the face polish and moisturiser. If anyone's used Benefit's skincare range before please let me know your thoughts!

What's on my face?

...Or my everyday makeup.

Face:

Primer: Rimmel BB Cream (Light) -*- As a primer I find this beauty balm quite thick and heavy and, because I'm putting foundation over the top, I'd prefer something lighter. I also have Benefits The POREfessional which I like much more but save for special occasions. Overall, though, the Rimmel cream provides good coverage.

Foundation: Rimmel Wake Me Up (103 True Ivory) -*- Of the few foundations I've tried this one is my favourite. I love the consistency, coverage and it blends really well. It's also lasting me a long time which is a plus and it lasts throughout the day.

Concealer: Maybelline FIT me! (10 Light) -*- I've always used Maybelline for concealer so I can't really compare this to others. It blends perfectly and is perfect for lighting up around my eyes.

Powder: Revlon Photoready (010 Fair/Light) -*- I'd recently been using the Revlon Nearly Naked Powder (which I liked) but when I swatched this one I found it much more pigmented. I find this one much easier for my brush to pick up and it really makes my skin 'photoready'.

Cheeks:

Bronzer: MAC MSF Natural (Medium Dark) -*- From my last post you can see this is a new addition but it will definitely be a permanent part of my everyday makeup. I love the colour and contour this creates and it's exactly what I've been looking for. It's not hugely pigmented but it make for easy blending.

Blush: Rimmel Lasting Finish Soft Colour (170 Genuine Plum) -*- Right now this is just a blush of convenience until I buy a new one I like. It's not hugely pigmented, though I like that for a blush, and the colour's just average, a bit more toned down than it appears in this photo. I've been using this everyday for ages and you can see barely any has been used, a plus.

Highlighter: MAC MSF (Soft and Gentle) -*- Another new purchase. This has been great at creating a glow especially on my cheekbones. Though it is quite shimmery, for everyday wear I wouldn't mind finding another that's not so fancy.

Eyes:

Brows: This little palette is so old I honestly can remember, or see on the packaging, what brand it is. It's an eyeshadow palette but I've found this dark brown colour works for my eyebrows.

Eyeshadow: Sportsgirl Eye Like It -*- This palette consist of mainly shimmer shadows and not much matte. For everyday I generally like to use one of the light colours over the lid with a darker brown through the crease. The shadows are quite highly pigmented and stay on well but they're nothing spectacular and would still recommend drugstore brands over this one.

Eyeliner: MAC Superslick Liquid Eyeliner (On The Hunt) -*- The pencil liner is another oldy with no visible brand or labelling but it's still a goody. I use it for tight lining and occasionally my lash line. It lasts quite well and is a good, dark black. I use the liquid liner on my top lash line and this Mac liner is the love of my life. The consistency is so perfect and smooth and the application is super easy (even if you suck like me).

Mascara: Maybelline The Falsies Flared (Blackest Black) -*- I picked this up recently at the recommendation of the one and only Tanya Burr and there's no turning back. I love the bristle brush for getting close to the base of the lashes. It also does't clump which is my mascara pet peeve.

Brushes:

Nude by Nature: I picked up this pack because it was only $25 for the 6 brushes and I am super happy, they were such good value. The brushes are extremely soft and they've stayed in good quality after washes.
1. The small buffer I use for foundation and it blends beautifully.
2. The second brush is a powder brush but i use it for bronzer. It's a perfect shape for under my cheekbones and good for blending.
3 & 4. The two eyeshadow brushes are super soft on my eyelids and the domed blending brush is great in the crease.
5. This concealer brush is the only let down. I suppose it blends fine but it's quite hard and really difficult to clean because of its tightly packed bristles.
6. This is a double ended brush. One side is meant for eyes but I use this to do my eyebrows. I'd prefer it was a bit more tightly packed. The other end is supposed to be a lip brush but I find it apples shadow well in my inner tear duct.

MAC: From Mac I have the 150 brush for powder and this is the most perfect brush I've ever used. It's so soft when applying powder and picks up any powder well. The 239 brush is perfect for applying shadow to the crease. I swear by Mac's brushes and many would disagree but I believe these brushes are worth the money.

So there's my everyday makeup. Some people might think this is too much or too little but I think it's just right. If anyone has any suggestions for any great everyday products (especially a blusher) please leave them in the comments. Also leave a link to your own everyday makeup post and I'll definitely look at them :)

Mini beauty/indulgence haul

This is my first haul and I thought I'd just show a couple of beauty bits I picked up recently plus some other cute items.

I've been looking for a new bronzer because I'm super pale and they're always to dark for me so I fell in love when I tried Mac's Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark. It work's perfectly for me as a bronzer and contour.

I couldn't help myself whilst in Mac so I also picked up this Mineralize Skinfinish highlighter in Soft and Gentle.

For the lips I got this Revlon Colourburst lip crayon because I've heard only good things about it. I chose a matte balm in the shade 205 Elusive for something I can wear day to day.

From Peter Alexander I couldn't resist my favourite Glasshouse Candle. If you're a lover of strong sweet smells I would recommend this one. Also their glass containers are great to reuse when the wax is all gone.

My first ever purchase from Lush (insane, I know) was this Phoenix Rising bath bomb. It has a spicy chai smell about it that I though was perfect for winter. I also got the Dragon's Egg bath bomb but if you saw my last post you'll see I've already used it (and I will be getting again).

So those are just a few bits I've picked up recently and hopefully I'll be able to post more hauls soon.

Is there anyone out there?

I've decided to do this thing, and it's taken me a long time work out how to begin. So this might start out slow and probably not that great, but I'm going to start blogging. About what? I don't even know. Anything and everything I guess, including everything in the tags. Hopefully as I go on I'll find my way and maybe someone will even read something I post.

I guess my life isn't that interesting at the moment but hopefully through this blog I'll be able to create excitement to share. I wan't to use this platform as a diary that I am motivated to keep up with, a way to interact with new people, discover new things and maybe help or entertain people. I'm not a great writer, entertainer, or comedian but I'm going to try my best to make something out of nothing here.

For now though, watch this space. If there is anyone there please leave comments with any tips on how to successfully do this and any support would be appreciated.
